Teams of students up to 22 years of age from around the world are invited to solve a real-world problem by using their critical thinking, communication and technology skills. Students, coached by teachers, will have to define the problem they intend to solve and produce an entry that presents their solution and the process they followed to develop their solution. Participants may enroll in one or more of the following competition events: ThinkQuest Projects, Digital Media, and Application Development.
Deadline for sending the application is 25 April 2012.

Pour participer au concours, il faut obligatoirement respecter les consignes énumérées ci-dessous :

• Tout le monde peut participer au concours : individuel de tout âge, familial, scolaire, association, etc.
• Le conte rédigé ne doit pas dépasser 650 mots.
• Les contes peuvent être rédigés en toutes les langues, mais il faut obligatoirement joindre une traduction en français.
• Manuscrit et tapé (et/ou illustré) ou sur tout autre support (suivez votre imagination !).
• Date limite d’envoi : jusqu’au dimanche 22 janvier 2012, minuit.

Toute participation n’ayant pas respectée le règlement ne sera pas retenue par le jury.

Plan pour écrire un conte :

1. INTRODUCTION
   Il était une fois, il y a bien longtemps, l’histoire que je vais vous conter se passe...
   Où : situer l’action dans un lieu ou un pays
   Quand : à quelle époque (il y a longtemps, dans les années...)
   Qui : quel est le personnage principal (un homme, une femme, une famille, jeune, vieux...)
   (éventuellement les personnages secondaires)
2. DÉVELOPPEMENT
   Quoi : quelle est l’action, les éléments déclencheurs
   Comment : quels sont les rebondissements et la manière de se sortir des évènements
3. CONCLUSION
   Chute : fin de l’histoire, elle peut être surprenante, humoristique ou classique.

To participate in the contest, you must respect the rules shown below:

• Anyone may enter the contest: individuals of any age, family school group, association, etc…
• Your story must not exceed 650 words.
• The story can be written in any language, but you have to enclose a French translation.
• Handwritten or typed (and/or illustrated) on any other medium (used you imagination…!)
• Dead line for entry: Sunday 22nd of January 2012 up to midnight.

All stories that do not respect those rules will not be considered by the jury.

Suggested structure for a story:

1. INTRODUCTION
   Once upon a time, long ago, the story I am about to recount took place….
   Where: the action takes place in a given place or a country
   When: what period of time
   Who:  who are the principal characters (a man, a woman, young old …..)
2. DEVELOPMENT
   What happen: What event took place, what are the events.
   How: What are the consequences and how were the events overcome.
3. CONCLUSION
   End of the story, it can be surprising, humoristic or classic.

En réponse à un intérêt toujours plus vif pour son concours de traduction, la Commission européenne renouvelle, pour la cinquième fois, cette initiative en 2011.
Le concours est organisé à l’intention des jeunes élèves de 17 ans dans les établissements d’enseignement secondaire de toute l’Union européenne (UE).
Ils auront à traduire un document d'une page, entre deux langues choisies parmi les 23 langues officielles de l’UE. Cette année, le thème choisi pour les textes soumis à traduction est celui du « volontariat ».
Les auteurs de la meilleure traduction pour chaque pays seront invités à Bruxelles afin d’y recevoir un prix , de rencontrer à cette occasion le Commissaire pour le multilinguisme et d’observer comment travaillent les traducteurs professionnels de l’Union européenne.
Cet événement donnera également à chaque lauréat la chance de pouvoir faire connaissance de ses pairs en talent de traduction, venus de tous les autres Etats membres de l'UE.

Juvenes Translatores 2011
Amid ever-growing interest, the European Commission will run its Juvenes Translatores translation contest for the fifth time in 2011.
The contest is organised for 17-year-olds in secondary schools throughout the European Union.
They will translate a 1-page text between any 2 languages from among the EU's 23 official languages. This year the theme of the texts will be "volunteering".
The authors of the best translation from each EU country will be invited to Brussels to receive an award, meet the Commissioner for multilingualism and see how professional EU translators work.
This will also be the chance to get to know their counterparts in linguistic talent from all the other countries.

Juvenes Translatores 2011
Der Übersetzungswettbewerb "Juvenes Translatores" erfreut sich wachsender Beliebtheit – Grund genug für die Europäische Kommission 2011 in die fünfte Runde zu gehen.
Der Wettbewerb richtet sich an 17-jährige Schülerinnen und Schüler an weiterführenden Schulen in der gesamten Europäischen Union.
Die Jugendlichen haben die Aufgabe, einen einseitigen Text aus einer der 23 EU-Amtssprachen in eine andere zu übersetzen, wobei sie die Kombination frei wählen können. Das Thema der Texte ist dieses Jahr die Freiwilligentätigkeit.
Gekürt wird jeweils die beste Übersetzung pro EU-Mitgliedstaat. Den glücklichen Gewinnern winkt eine Reise nach Brüssel, wo sie ihren Preis verliehen bekommen, die für Mehrsprachigkeit zuständige EU-Kommissarin treffen und sich ein Bild von der Arbeit professioneller EU-Übersetzerinnen und -übersetzer machen können.
Natürlich lernen sie bei dieser Gelegenheit auch die sprachbegabten Gewinner aus den anderen EU-Ländern kennen.
